Back in 2001 Chris was working in the facilities industry for a blue chip financial institution in the City of London. Football was a hobby and he had just started stewarding on a voluntary basis for his home town club Maidstone United. Following 2 redundancies in the next 18 months he made the decision to take a change of direction and invested some of his redundancy payment into taking several training courses setting himself a target of becoming a Football League Safety Officer in 5 years that was in 2002. What followed was amazing as armed with his new qualifications he achieved his target with 2 years to spare as he progressed through every division in English football to eventually become Safety Officer at the former Olympic Stadium in 2014. The journey took in Maidstone United, Sittingbourne, Charlton Athletic, Ebbsfleet United, Southend United, Leyton Orient and Brighton and Hove Albion culminating in a role with London Stadium 185 the operators of the newly refurbished Olympic Stadium and a role as West Ham United Safety Officer.
